Real Estate hails from the suburbs of New Jersey, where sunny beaches and backyard pool parties inspire a theme that is reoccurring in their previous releases. Even though the new album Days was recorded throughout the bitter, cold winter of upstate New York where I just so happen to reside, these guys are Jersey boys through and through, and their new single “It’s Real” is proof that their sound is not about to change. “It’s just me in my room, slowly dying. But it’s fun; it’s what I do. Some people build toothpick statues and model airplanes. I just happen to do this.”

Tim Presley is a man that is making his own mark in the industry. Aside from his time spent playing guitar in the band Darker My Love, Tim has also churned out two lengthy LP’s for his solo endeavor, White Fence. Growing up in sunny California, Tim is a seasoned musician, playing and performing in bands since his youth. “I never really decided that I was going to be a musician; I just kind of always have been from like 9 on. I was in a Spanish rock band when I was 9 called Pato Domingo. 2 strings, nylon strings.”

As we sat and talked on some random stoop in downtown Rochester where he had just performed for maybe ten or fifteen people but was still in good spirits, I could not help but be puzzled at the fact that he was enjoying himself, despite having traveled all the way across the country to get to this rather uninteresting town.

Fashion photographer Todd Cole directs the latest music video for Philly’s Kurt Vile. It depicts the rather uninteresting love lives of a young hipster couple as they prance around Los Angeles. The video is, however, a good excuse to listen to the track ‘Baby’s Arms’ from his most recent LP Smoke Ring For My Halo, released a few months back on

Memphis based label Goner Records is putting on their eighth annual music festival in late September. Although the line-up is always subject to change, you can expect to see a huge variety of your favorite fuzzed out musicians from all over the world. Ty Segall, Mean Jeans, and Sex Cult are just a few; most importantly you will be wanting to check out Detroits own garage pioneers the Gories while you are there. The dates (also subject to change) are September 22-25. There will be afternoon shows at at the Buccaneer and Murphy’s, and 3 evening shows at the Hi-Tone Cafe.
